Troupe Biographies

Pamela (Troupe Coordinator)
Pamela has been a member of the troupe from the beginning. She discovered Middle Eastern Dance in 2000 and became a founding member of Desert Magick when she danced with The Desert Wind Dancers for their very first performance in the spring of 2001. As troupe coordinator she works behind the scenes on the production aspects of our performances as well as performing with the troupe and as a solo artist. She also frequently functions as assistant teacher in the classroom.

Rayya
Rayya began her study of Middle Eastern Dance in the spring of 2002. With a background in tap and jazz, she joined the troupe in the summer of 2002. She recently began her career as an instructor by teaching a summer session of Tribal Style dance at The Studio in 2005. Rayya is also an avid photographer and has contributed many of the photos in our album.

Linda
Linda discovered Middle Eastern Dance in 2000. She joined Lorena’s classes in 2002 and became a member of Desert Magick in the fall of 2002. Linda performs with the troupe and as a solo artist. She is the most enthusiastic shopper of our group and several vendors call her “their favorite customer!” Photography is one of Linda's many other interests and she is a regular contributor to our photo album.

Amaya
Amaya was introduced to Middle Eastern Dance when she attended Lorena’s classes in 2002. She joined the troupe that fall and now performs as a solo artist as well as with the troupe. With an eye for color and a flair for accessorizing, Amaya has become the unofficial fashion consultant of the troupe. She has decided to apply these talents to a new venture and has recently entered the world of vending as the owner of Amaya’s Market.

Bahiya
Bahiya began classes with Lorena in 2002 and joined the troupe that summer. Enthusiastic about the dance, she performed at class parties and also worked behind the scenes. Bahiya started performing on stage in 2005 and hasn’t looked back since.

Natasha
Natasha became a member of the troupe in 2003. An experienced performer with a background in dance, she expressed an interest to perform with the troupe soon after beginning classes in 2002. Natasha quickly became an asset to the troupe, inspiring all of us with her belief that “This dance is good for the soul.”

Alena
Alena's passion for music began at school age when she sang and studied piano and Ukrainian folk dance. Alena joined Desert Magick in 2004 and quickly became a featured soloist as well as performing in troupe numbers. She continues to pursue her interest in music by studying other styles of dance.

Vi
Vi began classes with Lorena in the fall of 2004. With a background in Latin, Ballroom and Step Dancing, she became a member of Desert Magick in the summer of 2006. Her many other interests include Tai Chi, kayaking and raising sled dogs. Vi is also currently studying Middle Eastern drumming.

Nakia
Nakia was first introduced to Middle Eastern Dance in 2004, when she attended Lorena's classes. Her passion for dance began in childhood when as a young girl of 5, she began studies in tap, lyrical and jazz. Nakia also enjoys making custom jewelry and loves natural photography.

Paulina
Paulina has been dancing through life. She enjoys expressing rhythms through movement with grace and energy delighting many. |
